On June 6, 1944, over 160,000 Allied troops came ashore to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France.

Flag Day -- June 14

Flag Day falls on June 14 and celebrates the 1777 adoption of the flag as an official symbol of the United States.

Juneteeth -- June 19

 

 

 

 

  The colors red, white and blue in the Juneteenth Flag mean that the freed slaves were Americans, and the large star echoes the Texas state flag.

Juneteenth (also called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day) falls on June 19, and commemorates the final end of slavery in the United States.

Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June.
